WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark went viral after she shared photos of LeBron James and other NBA players when the LA Lakers visited the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. As a credentialed photographer, she captured some of the game’s best moments and proudly showed them to basketball fans on her social media accounts.
When NBC Sports analyst Vince Carter told her on Sunday that she would get the best pictures of James because of who she is, Clark responded:
“I swear we made eye contact, so I set down the camera and smiled at him, but he just looked at me with a straight face. He didn’t even see me, but the photos turned out well.”
While Caitlin Clark was busy taking photos, another photographer caught her just looking up and smiling at LeBron James. Although she had a role behind the lens, the fan in her emerged as she looked at the player she had idolized since childhood.
A few hours after the game, Clark captioned her photos of James:
“The KING … Shot by ME.”
The collection featured two black-and-white photos of James, while the other two also included two fully colored pictures of the NBA’s all-time points leader. In all four flicks, the NBA superstar appeared intensely focused on the game.
Although James did not acknowledge her during the game, he reposted her tweet via an Instagram story. The LA Lakers forward used emojis to show his appreciation of the photos.
Fans React to Caitlin Clark Admitting LeBron James Didn’t Acknowledge Her
The Lakers-Pacers game on Wednesday had more buzz than usual when Caitlin Clark appeared as a credentialed photographer. Unsurprisingly, Clark’s work went viral when she shared them after the game.
When she shared on NBC Sports that LeBron James ignored her after they made “eye contact,” fans reacted to her statement. One fan wrote:
“Caitlin calling LeBron her GOAT and getting the straight face treatment? King stays cold. Classic!”
Another fan added:
“LeBron said, ‘Focus on the game, rookie.'”
One more fan continued:
“Caitlin stay away from her. He is poison.”
Another fan commented:
“Another thing she shouldn’t have said.”
One fan tweeted:
“She’s really good at this. Is there anything she can’t do?”
Clark saw firsthand James’ focus during a game. Although she knew he recognized him, she saw that he only had his attention on what was happening on the court. Fans couldn’t help but rib her for failing to even get an acknowledgement from James.
