The Indiana Fever could have kept developmental player Justine Pissott for much longer, but they opted not to match the contract offer sheet put forward by the Las Vegas Aces. This weekend, Pissott showed the Fever what could have been by having a rousing debut with the defending WNBA champions.
In a 106-58 rout of the Phoenix Mercury, Pissott put up 19 points on 7-for-8 shooting. This included five made threes, which set the record for most converted triples in a WNBA debut.
Pissott’s debut performance led to thrilled reactions from fans on social media. Some netizens, however, couldn’t help but pile on Pissott’s former team and head coach Stephanie White.
Pissott, who played for Vanderbilt and Tennessee in her college years, was drafted 25th overall by the Fever in the second round of this year’s WNBA draft.
The Fever signed Pissott to a development contract, but it was the Aces who ended up securing her services via a rest-of-season contract.

After the game, the Aces showed their appreciation for Justine Pissott following her strong debut for the team. In a postgame clip, Pissott is seen getting drenched by her ecstatic teammates after she walks into the locker room.
As she soaked in the adulation of her new teammates, Pissott exclaimed that the water showered upon her was “cold.”
The Aces’ reception couldn’t be warmer, and now, they have added a promising rookie to bolster their depth.
