Fox Sports Radio Host Claims Caitlin Clark Isn’t “Innocent” Amid Alyssa Thomas Controversy

The Wednesday night tussle between Caitlin Clark and Alyssa Thomas continues to be a talking point among netizens. Thomas, who appeared to ram her fist onto Clark’s neck in the first half, has been slapped with a one-game suspension for her actions in this sequence.

Despite this, Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Beyer believes that Clark isn’t without fault here. On Thursday, Beyer claimed that CC had displayed some antagonistic behavior herself even prior to that Wednesday night matchup.

“I don’t think that Caitlin Clark is innocent…I’m not saying that she deserved to get a fist down the throat, but there is video from two nights prior of Caitlin Clark, when Alyssa Thomas misses a free throw, standing up on the sidelines and applauding to the crowd, and egging them on.”

Beyer added that it’s “disingenuous” for casual fans to think that the WNBA “stinks” after not watching the product for a long time and now seeing the Clark-Thomas drama unfold.

Meanwhile, Beyer’s co-host Monse Bolaños said that it was odd for the referees of the Fever-Mercury matchup to not review the altercation within the span of the game. This echoes the protest of Fever head coach Stephanie White in the post-game media session, when she labelled the non-call on Thomas as “egregious.”

The WNBA community remains split on this issue, but one thing’s for sure: Thomas will not be suiting up for the Mercury when they take on the Toronto Tempo this Saturday.

“Player Safety Should Be Paramount”: Fever President Releases Statement on Caitlin Clark-Alyssa Thomas Situation

In a statement released on Thursday, Fever president Kelly Krauskopf extended her gratitude to the WNBA for the steps they took in light of the Caitlin Clark-Alyssa Thomas situation.

“Player safety should be paramount in our league. We appreciate the WNBA’s review of last night’s incident and the action taken. Right now our focus is on Caitlin and our entire team as we prepare for Saturday.”

The Fever is set to take on the LA Sparks this weekend. To date, the status of Clark is up in the air.

During the third quarter of the Fever-Mercury game, Clark headed back to the locker room; the team later reported that she was dealing with back issues.
