Dream HC Karl Smesko Takes Steps to Address Angel Reese’s Travelling Violation Calls

Angel Reese has been called for one too many traveling violations for her head coach’s liking. The Atlanta Dream forward has been dominant on the glass, but Karl Smesko knows that turnovers can seriously hurt their team’s prospects.

Ahead of the Dream’s Friday night matchup against the Golden State Valkyries, Smesko said that he and his staff are in talks with referees to make sure that they’re on the same page regarding traveling calls.

“Angel gets a lot of attention and sometimes that leads to her not getting the benefit of the calls,” he was quoted as saying by kendra andrews. “But we’re trying to address it through the league.”

While Reese leads the league in rebounds with 11.8 per game, she also leads her team in turnovers, committing 3.6 errors a night.

Though Reese has declined in some categories (such as her field goal percentage, free throw shooting, and assists), she is enjoying the team success that she hadn’t quite tasted in her first two seasons in the league. The Dream are 12-5, just a half game behind the second-place Las Vegas Aces.

If Reese cleans up her turnovers (including traveling), the Dream will be in a better position to win consistently.

Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese Matchup Draws Huge Ratings Again as 1.7 Million Viewers Tune in to Fever-Dream Showdown

Despite her turnovers, Angel Reese remains a must-see attraction on the court. Whenever she squares off against her rival Caitlin Clark, WNBA fans certainly pay attention.

As reported by Yahoo Sports, around 1.7 million viewers watched the Atlanta Dream-Indiana Fever game on June 20. This is the third most-watched WNBA game in the 2026 season.

Clark and Reese also drew huge ratings when the latter suited up for the Chicago Sky in previous years.
