Steph Curry’s sister, Sydel Curry-Lee, joined A’ja Wilson in trolling Paige Bueckers after Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks defeated the UConn Huskies in their Final Four matchup on Friday.
Wilson’s alma mater, The Gamecocks, won 62-48 as Bueckers’ alma mater was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament. A tough result following the team’s championship run in 2025. Toward the end of the game, Staley and Geno Auriemma were seen in an animated discussion on the sidelines, and a video of the verbal spat is going viral on social media.
After the Huskies’ loss, A’ja Wilson shared a FaceTime screenshot on social media, showing her trolling Bueckers by holding up an “L” over her head. She shared the image and wrote:
“I found her, y’all.”
Sydel Curry-Lee also joined in on the fun, referencing Dawn Staley while reacting.
“Word on the street is Dawn beating someone a** tonight…I’d be careful out there,” Sydel Curry wrote.
Last season, Paige Bueckers led the Huskies to the NCAA title, defeating the Gamecocks in the Finals. Bueckers played 123 games for UConn, averaging 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, shooting 53.1%.
A’ja Wilson also led South Carolina to the NCAA title in 2017. She made 138 appearances for the Gamecocks, averaging 17.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game. She won three SEC Player of the Year awards and was named the National Player of the Year in 2018.
Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend, Azzi Fudd, took the court for the Huskies on Friday. Fudd had a tough night, shooting 3-for-15 and 2-for-9 from 3-point range as she finished with eight points and five assists.

Leading up to Friday’s game, Bueckers told the media that she made a bet with A’ja Wilson regarding the Gamecocks vs. Huskies game. She explained that whoever lost would have to wear the rival school’s colors’ PE shoes.
“She would have to wear to a UConn PE in the A’Twos or A’Ones,” Bueckers said. “Then, I would, well, I’m not even gonna talk about if we’re gonna lose because we’re gonna win, but I would have to wear the South Carolina PEs.”
If Bueckers holds up her end following the Huskies’ loss, fans can expect to see her wearing shoes in South Carolina’s colorway next season.
