Dave Portnoy has been vocal about his frustration with USA Today columnist Nancy Armour after she published her bold take on Caitlin Clark’s fanbase. According to Armour, the former No.1 pick is “dangerous” because her actions incite outrage towards queer and black players of the WNBA.
Armour also drew a comparison between Emmett Till and Caitlin Clark in her article, which outraged many fans and analysts across the sport.
Till was a 14-year-old boy who traveled to Mississippi in 1955 and was accused of whistling at a 21-year-old girl, Carolyn Bryant. Till was then brutally lynched and murdered for the incident.
Portnoy spoke on the “Fox Business” channel on Friday about the wild comparison by Armour and said:
”We’ve got to put her in a straitjacket. You’ve got to find the nearest institution. You’ve got to put this author away and throw away the key. It is. I’ve been doing Barstool for 24 years. I’m 49 years old. That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. The absolute craziest thing to somehow equate the civil rights movement and Caitlin Clark arguing whether she got fouled, and making it into this mishmash. It is pure insanity. And even some of the people who generally, you know, make everything about race or what, even they are like, whoa, this may have been a step too far.”
“So, you know, I do think she should be fired. I think the editor who allowed this to be published should be fired. But again, firing isn’t really far enough.”
Caitlin Clark Shares Reaction to Receiving Words of Wisdom from Barack Obama
Caitlin Clark has been receiving a lot of criticism for her actions, especially for complaining to the referees during games about fouls.
Amid the online bashing, Clark heard some beautiful words of wisdom from Barack Obama on Friday.
During their meetup, Obama gave Clark some heartfelt compliments while also reminding her not to pay heed to the “nonsense” around her.
During a later press conference, Clark spoke to reporters about her interaction with Obama:
“He just complimented me for the way that I handle everything, obviously with everything that’s been going on. He’s somebody who has been in front of the media quite a bit, and he reminded me, ‘When I got famous in my 40s, I didn’t have to do it in my 20s.”
Clark added that it was a special moment for her and that she would probably remember it for the rest of her life.
