Chicago Sky’s worst Rickea Jackson Fear confirmed as devastating injury update emerges

Rickea Jackson is out for the season with an ACL tear. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 draft had been enjoying a strong 2026 season with the Chicago Sky after being traded from the Los Angeles Sparks in the offseason.

In four games with the Sky this campaign, she averaged 18.0 points per game along with 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists. With numbers like these, Jackson had become a very important part of Chicago’s offense. However, her strong start has now been put on pause.

During the Sky’s most recent contest against the Minnesota Lynx, Jackson exited early after suffering an injury. An update has now confirmed the tough news: she will miss the remainder of the season.

According to Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca, Jackson is out for the season. He described her as “one of the toughest players in the league.”

    Full statement:

“We’re devastated that Rickea suffered this injury, but we are confident she will make a full recovery,” Pagliocca said. “Rickea was playing at an All-Star and All-Defensive level early in the season. We are certain she was primed for a career year. Our world-class medical staff will work hard with Rickea, who is one of the toughest players in the league, to get her back on the court.”

The 25-year-old got tangled up with Nia Coffey on a layup in the second period of Chicago’s 86-70 win, exiting the game 5:24 into the second quarter and not returning.

In the game, Rickea Jackson had 6 points, 1 rebound, and 1 block. This is undoubtedly a tough blow for Chicago, who have had a strong start to the new season, sitting at 3-1 so far. The Sky will also certainly miss her while she is sidelined due to how key of a player she is to their roster.

She had been poised for a big season after a tough WNBA year personally, but her progress has now been halted. She will focus on rehab and aim for a strong return next season.
