Bam Adebayo Calls GF A’ja Wilson a “Cougar” Due to One-Year Age Gap

Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson shared the nickname her NBA boyfriend, Bam Adebayo, uses to mock their age difference. Wilson participated in the Instagram page @wagtalk’s trivia quiz, “How well do you know your NBA boyfriend?”

The four-time WNBA MVP was asked to state the year in which Adebayo was named to the McDonald’s All-American team. While counting down the years, Wilson noted the age difference between the pair and said:

“He’s younger than me; he calls me a cougar.”

She was shocked to learn that Adebayo was selected in 2016. For context, Wilson was in her junior year at South Carolina and led the team to the NCAA title in 2016-17.

The Aces star ended up giving the correct answer to all of the questions on the quiz, showing the tight bond she shares with the Miami Heat center. They sparked dating rumors after pictures of them at the 2024 Olympics went viral on social media.

They confirmed their relationship soon after. Adebayo even presented Wilson with her record fourth MVP honor at the end of the 2025 WNBA season. The Aces star has also been spotted courtside at the Heat’s games this season.

Adebayo is having a solid campaign, averaging 18.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, shooting 44.4%. The Heat are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a 27-26 record.

Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson name each other’s weaknesses at the Miami Heat’s Gala

Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson gave a lighthearted interview together as they attended the 16th annual Miami Heat Gala on Monday.

The couple was asked to give a scouting report on each other, leading to some friendly banter between them. Here’s what they said:

“He likes going left, make him go baseline. If you show him different looks and make him think, you might have a chance,” Wilson said.

“She loves to go left,” Adebayo said. “I would say people don’t double her enough. By the time they start doubling her, she already has 25.”

Wilson is coming off a historic season in 2025, leading the Aces to their third title in the last three years. She averaged 23.4 ppg, 10.2 rpg and 3.1 apg and was named both MVP and Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
