Caitlin Clark’s successful debut for the USA Women’s Basketball Senior Team drew praise from her boyfriend Connor McCaffery, Sophie Cunningham and other WNBA stars. They took to the Fever superstar’s latest Instagram posts, in which she shared pictures of her highlights from the FIBA World Cup Qualifying tournament, where she led the USA to a 5-0 run and won the MVP award.
“fun being back out there 🇺🇸⭐️, always an honor💙 @usabasketball,” Clark wrote.
Clark’s boyfriend, Connor, dropped a one-word reaction to praise her, saying:
“Aura.”
Meanwhile, Clark’s Fever teammates Sophie Cunningham, Aliyah Boston, Lexie Hull and Kelsey Mitchell also showed love.
“still pale even after being PR is crazy but at least you brought home that MVP trophy🤪🤪🤪🤪,” Cunningham wrote.
“The besttttt😍🤩🤩,” Boston added.
“12 looks good on you. Trying to be Stanford me I guess.” Hull said.
“MVP💓🥂,” Mitchell commented.
Caitlin Clark averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists on 52.9% shooting, including 40.0% from deep and 85.7% from the free throw line. She recorded a 14.9 efficiency. Clark led the USA in points, assists and efficiency. She was a plus-minus +104, despite starting only once.
Clark was the USA’s best player despite an eight-month layoff. She dealt with groin and ankle injuries, limiting her to 13 games in her second WNBA season in 2025.
Caitlin Clark’s USA MVP win raises expectations for the 2027 WNBA season
Caitlin Clark finished her first competitive tournament back without any health issues. Not just that, she also won the MVP while playing alongside some of the most talented players in the league. The win and Clark’s improved health have only raised expectations for her ahead of the 2026 WNBA season.
When healthy, Clark has been incredible for the Fever. She was instrumental in leading them to the playoffs. Indiana managed to put together a solid roster around her last year, but Clark couldn’t play, and the team probably never reached its peak, which could have been a finals run. The Fever fell short marginally, taking the eventual champions, the Aces, to five games in the semifinal.
With the Fever likely to retain Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston projected to take another leap, all eyes will be on Caitlin Clark and what she can do to help Indiana’s title bid.
