Angel Reese’s Embarrassing Airball Prompts Response From Dave Portnoy

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream suffered their third loss of the season against the Indiana Fever in their last game. Even though the Dream center scored a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, the team faced a 71-83 loss. However, all that aside, her big airball from deep made the most noise on social media, even prompting a response from Dave Portnoy.

Barstool Sports owner Portnoy and Reese have reportedly had a tumultuous relationship in the past, as the former is a known admirer of Caitlin Clark. In his latest post, Portnoy seemingly took a sarcastic dig at Reese for stealing the spotlight with her airball. He shared a media headline on X and wrote:

    “I hate this headline”

Even though it seems like the Barstool Sports owner has posted in support of Reese, his past views about the center point to sarcasm. She missed the 3-pointer so badly in the second quarter that she didn’t attempt another shot from deep in the entire game. She shot 44.4% from the field.

Fans criticize Angel Reese’s shooting form before the game

Before the Dream faced the Fever, Angel Reese was seen practicing her outside shots and working on her form. She has shot 16.3% from deep over her three seasons in the WNBA, as the center is not known for her 3-point shooting.

An analyst shared the video on X and wrote:

“Angel Reese working from distance at shootaround”

Fans quickly took to the comment section to call out Reese and her shooting form. A user wrote:

“What are we doing here? Crossing her arms, eyes on the ball in the air and not the rim, stomping out every shot. This is just bad shooting fundamentals. Has she not hired a shot coach in the last 3 years?”

Several other fans believed that Angel Reese needed to do more work on her shooting form.

The Fever registered a much-needed win after consecutive losses, as Clark had a decent game, scoring 17 points and dishing out eight assists. Kelsey Mitchell led the offense with 25 points. However, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year has not looked comfortable from deep yet, as she shot 2-8 from the 3-point line.
