A’ja Wilson’s Dad Sends Warning to Aneesah Morrow After Trash Talk Immediately Backfires in 45-Point Masterclass

A’ja Wilson is one of the legends of the WNBA, and she made that clear during the Las Vegas Aces’ recent game against the Connecticut Sun. The defending champions won their back-to-back matchups against the Sun, but the last one got special attention from fans due to a heated exchange between Wilson and the Sun center, Aneesah Morrow.

With six minutes left in the second quarter, Morrow attacked the bucket and made a lay-in with A’ja Wilson defending her. Moreover, she hit the 3-time NBA champion with a “too small” gesture after the basket. Even though Wilson didn’t reply directly, she turned the taunt on its head by dropping 45 points in 32 minutes.

In her place, Wilson’s father responded after their trash-talk in the latest game. A user shared a post on Threads about Wilson dismantling Morrow after the incident:

“A’ja Wilson is NOT the player you talk trash to. Aneesah Morrow gave A’ja the too little sign after she scored a layup on A’ja. Morrow then went scoreless until the end of the game, only scoring again with the game out of reach. “

Wilson’s father and former basketball player Roscoe Wilson Jr. commented on the post and wrote:

    “Do not poke the bear………….”

A’ja is the daughter of Eva Wilson, a business administrator, and Roscoe Wilson Jr., a former collegiate basketball player at Benedict College. He played professionally in Europe for a decade and actively supported his daughter’s basketball career during her days at the University of South Carolina.

Notably, Morrow scored just two points in the third quarter and four in the fourth, bringing her tally to 10 points and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes. The Aces have begun the season at the same place they left last year, securing three wins in four games. Wilson has been formidable with the squad and leads the offense with an average of 26.3 points and 5.5 rebounds every game.

A’ja Wilson made history with 45-point game

A’ja Wilson dropped her fifth 40-point game in the WNBA to win the game for the Aces, 101-94, against a short-handed Sun squad, without Britney Griner. She has become the player with the most 40-point games in the pro league.

It was a surreal moment for Wilson, who also made her debut in the same arena, the Mohegan Sun Arena. She also won her first title in 2022 at the same venue against the Sun, where the Aces dominated the then-5-game series 3-1. With the Sun getting rebranded to the Houston Comets before the next season, this might be Wilson’s last game at the arena, and she made it a memorable one.

Wilson’s efficiency has been top-notch, as she shot 15-18 from the floor and stayed perfect from 3-point and free-throw lines. In four games, she has shot 61.3% from the field and 57.1% from deep. In her next game, she will be matched up against Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream, who will be hyped up coming off back-to-back wins, including one against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings. Fans will await the highly anticipated battle between the veteran and the young superstar.
