Saniya Rivers went back and forth with a few fans on Threads after she clashed with Caitlin Clark in Wednesday’s game between the Connecticut Sun and the Indiana Fever. Clark and Rivers had a verbal exchange in the third quarter over a foul call.
“She said she was going to lock me up,” Clark told reporters. “So, I said, ‘Scoreboard.’ And the ref didn’t like that.”
The Fever were up 95-67 and cruising to a win when the incident happened. It also led to Clark’s seventh technical foul of the season. She is one tech away from a one-game suspension.
Rivers, meanwhile, was trolled for trash talking while trailing by nearly 30 points, but she responded on Threads:
“Girl if we’re down by 50, I’m NEVER tolerating disrespect,” she wrote. “As long as there’s time left on the clock, ima keep hoopin. Period.”
Rivers clapped back at several fans on Thursday as well. She said the majority of the Fever fans ruin moments for players. Rivers also thanked her fans for showing support.
However, her comments led to more trolling online from Clark’s fans.
“Haha CC living rent free in all their minds as true winners always do,” one fan said.
More reactions followed.
