Reich and Luck are familiar with each other from their time with the Indianapolis Colts. Reich coached Luck with the Colts in 2018 before the QB retired at the end of the season.

He was the head coach of the Colts from 2018-22, making the playoffs twice and going 1-1 in his first year, Luck’s last.

Reich finished his tenure 40-33-1 before being fired midway through the 2022 campaign. He coached the Carolina Panthers in 2023 but was fired partway through the season after starting 1-10.

Reich had a 41-43-1 record over six seasons as a head coach. Before his time with the Colts, he held various NFL positions, the biggest of which was with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was the team’s offensive coordinator for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, winning the Super Bowl in the latter.

Reich’s playing career began at the University of Maryland as a quarterback. After being drafted, he was primarily a backup in the NFL and went to four Super Bowls with the Buffalo Bills. He also played for the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, and Detroit Lions.

Stanford outside linebacker David Bailey entered the transfer portal on Friday, March 28, after generating 111 tackles, 22.5 TFLs, and 14.5 sacks across three seasons with the program. An additional 20 players have entered the transfer portal in the offseason.

Even though Alden Mitchell has been named interim, Luck must also hire a full-time athletic director. Bernard Muir also recently stepped down from the position. The program has not played in a bowl game since 2018 and was 3-9 this past season. Luck will also have to work to repair the program’s reputation after Taylor’s firing.
