Alabama is well-represented in College Football Network’s Top 100 players list, with seven members of the Crimson Tide making the cut. The Kalen DeBoer era in Tuscaloosa begins with a stable full of electrifying stars, but which ones were recognized before the 2024 season kicks off? Let’s take a look!
Which Alabama Players Were Included in the CFN Top 100 College Football Players?
Surprisingly, quarterback Jalen Milroe is the sole Alabama player inside the top 75 of the CFN Top 100 College Football Players.
Milroe bided his time on the Crimson Tide bench before getting time as the starter behind center for Alabama last year as a redshirt sophomore. While not perfect, his play was dynamic enough to catch plenty of attention, passing for 2,834 yards, 23 TDs to six picks, while rushing in another 12 TDs on the ground.
Milroe helped guide Alabama to a respectful final campaign for legendary coach Nick Saban, with the Crimson Tide finishing No. 5 after a 12-2 record and a College Football Playoffs appearance. He had 116 yards passing and 112 yards rushing with no scores or INTs in Alabama’s first-round CFP exit to Michigan, 27-20 in OT.
With three years of experience under the tutelage of Saban, Milroe heads into the 2024 season primed for a sensational year under the high-firing offense that DeBoer brings to Tuscaloosa. While guiding the Huskies to a National Championship appearance, DeBoer’s offense at Washington finished tied for 12th in the nation in total yards.
The anticipation is high for Milroe as the junior from Katy, Texas checks in at No. 13 on the CFN Top 100.
With Milore entrenched within the upper echelon of the CFN Top 100 College Football Players, there’s a significant gap to the next player. Center Parker Brailsford is one of several players to follow DeBoer from Washington. He started all 15 games last season for the Huskies and enters 2024 as the 75th ranked player in the nation.
Placed at No. 85 in the CFN Top 100 is junior linebacker Deontae Lawson. Starting 11 games for the Crimson Tide last year, Lawson racked up 67 tackles and three sacks.
Another Crimson Tide OL on the list with guard Tyler Booker at No. 88. Listed at 6’5″, 356 pounds, the IMG product started 13 games for Alabama last season.
The only other defensive player on the list came in at No. 93 with safety Keon Sabb. Also initially from IMG Academy, Sabb transferred in after two years at Michigan, registering 28 tackles and two picks in four starts last year.
Alabama’s special teams unit rounds out the list for the entire CFN Top 100 with punter James Burnip at No. 99 and kicker Graham Nicholson at No. 100. Burnip is averaging 43.3 yards per punt on 151 attempts at Alabama, while Nicholson is a Miami (OH) transfer where he went 60-71 on FGs in three years.
