Quarterback Ty Simpson has been massively talked about in regards to the 2026 NFL Draft, but many analysts find it hard to dial down upon a spot for him on teams that absolutely need him.
As the former Alabama star visited the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday for a private workout, Todd McShay explained why he has the franchise move from its third to a later pick and accumulate some draft capital for next year.
McShay highlighted that it’s hard to find a spot for Simpson as their are many teams that need a quarterback or are looking at the 2027 NFL Draft class which include players like Dante Moore, Arch Manning and others. he said:
“Arizona’s sitting in a unique spot because you got Mike LaFleur coming in. I think Ty Simpson fits what what he would want to do.
“There’s also the opportunity if you can trade out of that third pick and maybe get a second next year or something like that, you could get some capital so you can be part of that mix when we’re talking about Arch and Dante and Sorsby and Leavitt and all those guys, I could go on and on.”
He added:
“But why not take a hack this year in a guy that we don’t have to play right away. We can roll out Jacoby Brissett in the beginning of the year.
When the time’s right, we can see where he is and kind of get a feel for is this the guy or not? And then if we have to, we can go draft a guy next year.”
Rich Eisen Makes Thoughts Clear on Why Jets Shouldn’t Draft Ty Simpson
Rich Eisen recently spoke about how he has been dancing around the fact that he thinks the Jets shouldn’t pick Ty Simpson in the 2026 NFL Draft and finally wants to explain why.
The analyst believes the Jets should only draft Simpson if they are head over heels in love with him and are 100% assured that the former Alabama star is good for the team and the city.
He further highlighted how Simpson has just 15 starts in his college career and reminded that the Jets need a lot of talent in other positions.
Eisen advised the Jets to build up next year and focus on the future drafts.
