There was a little bit of mayhem in the lead-up to Venus Williams’ wedding to husband Andrea Preti, revealed the tennis star’s designer. Following a secret ceremony in Italy, Williams threw a lavish bash in Florida in December 2025.
Wedding dresses are obviously one of the most important aspects of a bride’s special day. Williams sought noted celebrity designer and personality, Pnina Tornai, to design outfits for her wedding. The seven-time Major champion hired the designer on a short notice, and couldn’t zero in on a particular dress, so opted to have six of them.
During a recent chat with OK! Magazine, Tornai recalled the chaos leading up to Williams’ wedding, wrapping up the entire process in just a month exclusively for her. Only one of her exquisite dresses got to see the light of day, and she now hopes for Williams to showcase her other outfits as well.
“I feel bad for the other dresses. I hope she wears them, because my dresses are expensive, and it’s kind of a waste to have these beautiful dresses and not wear them at all. It was quite a short notice. We rushed everything. Every dress is custom-made, and usually, for any bride that comes and purchases one of my dresses, seven months is the minimum. I have a lot of brides on my schedule, but she really wanted that dress. It was the last dress. So we did it in less than a month, and I had my seamstress work on it specially for her,” Tornai said.
Following her wedding in December, Williams didn’t opt for an extended honeymoon. She instead hit the practice courts for her return to the tour. While she gave a good account of herself during the Australian swing last month, she couldn’t win a match. Her quest for a maiden win this season will continue at the ATX Open 2026. She will take on Ajla Tomljanovic in the first round on Tuesday, February 24.
Venus Williams Accepts A Wildcard For The Indian Wells Open 2026
Following her campaign at the ATX Open, Venus Williams will head to California for the Indian Wells Open 2026. The season’s third WTA 1000 tournament will run from March 3-15. The tournament organizers announced her wildcard acceptance a few days ago.
This will be Williams’ 10th appearance at the Indian Wells Open. She has a 21-8 record at the tournament, and reached the semifinals on three occasions. She made a first-round exit in her most recent appearance in 2024.
Williams didn’t participate in the Indian Wells Open between 2002 and 2014. She and her sister, Serena Williams, boycotted the tournament after being subjected to racist taunts in 2001. However, the siblings had a change of heart, and returned to compete in the California desert after skipping it for more than a decade.
