Serena Williams’ former teammate Sascha Aleksander Bajin was condemned by the fans, who accused him of seeking attention by using the American’s comeback. They shared their strong opinions online.
Williams stepped away from tennis in 2022 after competing at the US Open to focus on herself and her family. After four years of staying away from tennis, the legendary player recently announced her comeback to the sport, revealing that her first competition will be at the HSBC Championships. Amid this, her former hitting partner, Bajin, shared a heartfelt post for her return on Instagram.
However, the post he shared was also an ad for his own Instagram profile, which is now seemingly removed. The advertisement on the post was quickly noticed by the fans, who called him out for chasing attention in the name of the American’s comeback. One of the fans shared a video, where they added a screenshot of the post in the background, and highlighting the ad part, they said:
“Anyone else think it’s weird that Serena’s old hitting partner Sasha is running Instagram ads using her comeback as a way to gain followers? Or is that just me?”
Under this video, another follower called him a ‘clout chaser,’ writing:
“He’s always been a huge clout chaser.”
One of the users recalled that he did the same thing with Noami Osaka.
“I feel like he has done something similar with Naomi tbh!”

Agreeing with the video, a few other fans wrote:
“Yes.”
“Weird.”

What did Sascha Aleksander Bajin say about Serena Williams after rumors sparked of her return to tennis
In February 2026, it was confirmed that Serena Williams will be able to participate in an official tournament from February 22; however, no confirmation of her comeback was made then. Rumors of her return were already making rounds all over the internet after she appeared in the ITIA testing pool in October last year.
Amid this, Sascha Aleksander Bajin took to X, expressing his concern for Williams’ potential return, revealing his honest opinion.
“I hope she doesn’t draw some of these girls who can really go out and beat her. If I can be honest, and I hope you guys don’t take this the wrong way, this comes from a place of love. You don’t want to see her lose to somebody who doesn’t deserve to have that win on her record, and that’s no disrespect, please, to some of those girls who are competing right now,” wrote Serena Williams’ former hitting partner.
He added:
“She’s been out of competition for three and a half, four years. Do I think she can play great tennis for 60 minutes? Absolutely, she can! Maybe even 90 minutes she can, but can she do it the next day, the day after, the day after.”
Serena Williams’ first match after her comeback will be in the doubles tournament of the Queen’s Club alongside Victoria Mboko.
