Former WTA pro and five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova felt a surge of energy after witnessing some of the best athletes perform at the highest levels in their respective sports. Over the weekend, the Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl LX, defeating the New England Patriots 29-13, and many elite athletes showcased class at the Milano-Cortina Winter Games, bringing glory to their nations.
Taking inspiration from these athletes, especially legendary alpine skier Lindsey Vonn, who, despite an ACL tear, showcased ultimate resiliency before another crash on Sunday, Sharapova shared a video from her training session, in which the former World No. 1 can be seen using kettlebells for squats and a barbell for lunges.
“Hard not to train your body after watching all the incredible athletes this weekend,🏅” Sharapova wrote in her Instagram story.

Sharapova completed a career Grand Slam by winning her first Roland Garros in 2012. The Russian faced off against the best of the best during her peak years as a pro. Her professional tennis career lasted almost two decades, during which she won countless accolades.
Most recently, Sharapova was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame last year in an emotional ceremony attended by her former on-court rival and good friend, Serena Williams, and her father and former coach, Yuri Sharapova, among other big names.
Since retiring from the sport, the Russian has been spending quality time with her partner, Alexander Gilkes, and their son, Theodore, in America. Alongside embracing motherhood, Sharapova actively engages herself in multiple entrepreneurial ventures and also headlines various fashion events for top luxury brands.

While she is not a direct equity investor, Sharapova has served as an independent member of the board of directors of the Italian luxury brand ‘Moncler.’ The Russian advises the clothing company on brand strategy, business expansion, and luxury, drawing on her previous entrepreneurial experience.
“It looked entirely effortless, but as someone who’s had a front row seat to the @moncler business, we well know how much thought, endless hours, and energy it takes to create twenty minutes of such impact. Bravo team!!” Sharapova captioned the post.
Sharapova’s last match as a pro came at the 2020 Australian Open, where she lost her first-round match against Donna Vekic in straight sets. Although she was slated to participate in more WTA events after her Melbourne loss, the Russian called it quits on her tennis career, ending with five Grand Slam titles and a WTA Finals title.
