Pegula had a thrilling run at the Australian Open, reaching the semifinals and defeating defending champion Madison Keys as well as compatriot Amanda Anisimova on her way to the final four. The American No. 2 suffered a straight-sets defeat against the eventual champion Elena Rybakina, thereby ending her Australian swing without any silverware.

During her time in Melbourne, Pegula had actively discussed watching the Bills’ postseason games on ESPN and even shared her honest opinion on a controversial call on the last drive of the divisional match against the Broncos, which ended Buffalo’s run in a closely fought 33-30 OT loss.

Despite setbacks for herself and her favorite NFL team, Pegula has a lot to look forward to as she prepares to resume her journey on the WTA circuit in the coming weeks.
