“Embarassing”; “Makes Me Sick” – Iga Swiatek Fans In disbelief After Pole Defends Psychologist Daria Abramowicz Amid Heavy Criticism

Iga Swiatek was at a loss for words following another early exit at a WTA 1000 event. After losing in the quarterfinal of the Indian Wells Masters against Elina Svitolina, the Polish star suffered a Round of 64 exit in the Miami Open against unseeded Magda Linette.

After the heartbreaking loss, Swiatek looked disappointed with herself for coming up short on expectations.

“I feel like I have expectations of myself that I can’t fulfill. I need to let go of them. I’m not good enough to have any expectations,” she said.

Swiatek had already made changes in her coaching staff after an early exit in Miami. She has fired Wim Fissette, ending the association that started in late 2024 and saw success at Wimbledon last year. However, Swiatek retained her mental coach, Daria Abramowicz, driving an intrigue among fans and analysts. The criticism regarding her association with Abramowicz reached Swiatek’s ears, and the Polish star chose to defend her mental health coach.

“Regarding the articles about Daria, for years, she was credited with my success on the court because it was possible, among other things, thanks to mental strength, and now, when there is a drop in form and results, suddenly she is to blame,” Swiatek said. “But I try to base decisions on my own opinion, because only then can I truly believe in them and be convinced that it’s the right choice. Even though the coach should be the leader of the squad, I try to be the leader and guide my team.”

Swiatek’s decision to defend Abramowicz didn’t sit well with some fans.

“She’s a prisoner of her own drama,” one fan wrote.

“ffs this is why i blame both daria herself and tennis media for giving the collaboration/daria herself that much credit when she was doing well,” another added.

“I honestly don’t have many words to describe all of this. It’s all so surreal and embarrassing to me. Iga is so manipulated by her that she can’t even hide it anymore,” one fan commented.

“well yes it used to work but now when it’s not working anymore and how unprofessional she is as a psychologist there’s always a room to question her work. the fact that she defends daria so much makes me sick,” another fan added.

“Suddenly she’s the blame”idiot your success belongs to you, only you, her PR team is sick, they just made her looks stupid with no personality, the person who decide how to cut your hair, which books you should read,…she is just controlling your life.Wake up, girl, free yourself,” one fan reacted.

“They deserve each other. Let ‘em be,” one fan wrote sarcastically.

Iga Swiatek Reveals What Her Next Coach Should Ideally Be

Six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek parted ways with Wim Fissette after earning three WTA titles together, including 2025 Wimbledon success. Swiatek said it was time to take a different path and the decision wasn’t made in haste. The decision not only boiled down to the failure in Miami, but instead it was a longer process, starting from the tournament in Doha.

During her interview with Sport.pl, Swiatek revealed what she looks forward in her next potential head coach.

“Good question, although you should not judge a person only from this angle,” Swiatek said. “The ideal coach should have very good skills. Eye’ to the game. Sensing what a player needs – in the short and long term.”

Swiatek has yet to decide whom she will hire as her next head coach but a decision could be made soon, with the clay court season looming large.
