Emma Raducanu is once again missing from Britain’s roster for the Billie Jean King Cup qualifier, which has been recently released. The qualifiers are scheduled to take place from April 10 to 11 in Melbourne, Australia.
Raducanu’s latest outing came at the Indian Wells Open, where Amanda Anisimova defeated her in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) in the Round of 32. This loss marked the end of her journey at the WTA 1000 BNP Paribas Open. After this upset, the roster for Team Great Britain for the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers was released.
The team’s captain, Anne Keothavong, named a four-player team against Australia, which includes Sonay Kartal, Harriet Dart, Jodie Burrage, and the 17-year-old Mika Stojsavljevic. However, Raducanu’s name wasn’t on the list, and just like last year, she won’t be representing her country at the tournament.
One of the X users highlighted the missing names of the top players, writing:
“Great Britain name their team for tie in Australia on April 10-11. No Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter or Fran Jones, meaning GB without three of their top four singles players. – Sonay Kartal – Harriet Dart – Jodie Burrage – Mika Stojsavljevic.”
Raducanu faced backlash last year over her unavailability for national duties, as she withdrew from the Billie Jean King Cup to prioritize her physical recovery amid a busy schedule.
Emma Raducanu Weighs in on Her Loss Against Amanda Anisimova at Indian Wells
Following her shocking 6-1, 6-1 upset against Amanda Anisimova in the third round at the Indian Wells, Emma Raducanu spoke to Sky Sports. Calling it a difficult match, she praised her opponent.
“I think in the second round today against Amanda, it was difficult to do that or even kind of come close to putting my kind of stamp on the match. And I think also that goes with playing Amanda, she’s that type of opponent who likes to put her stamp on it first, and that was very evident today,” said Emma Raducanu.
She added:
“So, yeah, obviously you have to take some positives. The first match here was better than a lot of the matches I’ve been playing recently, but a match like that is never easy to take afterwards.”
She also weighed in on the takeaway from the Indian Wells, adding:
“Yeah, I think I had a great first match and was in a much better place with my game. I think playing Amanda today it was very difficult to take a lot of other than starting point from the match. I think she served well and returned, and her ball speed was really strong, so I couldn’t really get into the rally, I felt. So I think she did that really well, and the ball just felt very quick to do anything off of and to try and kind of last in surviving the point was very difficult.”
Emma Raducanu opened her 2026 season at the Hobart International, where she lost to Taylah Preston in the quarterfinals.
