Naomi Osaka once again took the internet by storm following her unique pre-game outfit for the 2026 Madrid Open. Osaka walked to the court wearing a customized visor paired with an Emilio Pucci-style scarf, sending a bold fashion statement across. The look was homage to European summer style.
While some lauded Osaka for the creativity behind the look, most looked down on the four-time Grand Slam champion, claiming that she’s too focused rather than winning in tennis.
American tennis star Danielle Collins was the latest to comment on this unique outfit of Osaka. Going against the wave of criticism, Collins praised her look, adding the following 2-word message:
“Loving this!”

This was not the first time Osaka has sent a bold fashion statement while turning up for her tennis match. She is one who often challenges the convention with her expressive fashion choices, and she has been doing it longer than anyone.
Naomi Osaka Joined By Daughter Shai in Madrid
After the shocking early loss in the Miami Open, Naomi Osaka gave ways to retirement rumors after she was fed up with upsets in the early rounds of the tournament. Being a mother to Shai, Osaka is feeling drained in terms of motivation to turn up for tournaments only to lose in the first few rounds.
In Madrid, she returned to winning ways, beating Camila Osorio in straight sets to begin her clay-court campaign. After the game, Osaka revealed that her daughter Shai has also joined her on the tour, thereby breathing new motivation that she needs to give her best in the tournament.
Talking about how her last month went as a mother, Osaka said:
“I was able to go home, honestly, pretty much be a mum. So I would take her to school, pick her up from school, and it was really cool. And she’s here with me, so just getting to see her face, and going to practises, and coming back, it’s been really special to me. So yeah, I don’t have any complaints or anything.
“Honestly, I think her growing older and just being able to figure out her schedule, obviously, with school, it’s been really helpful. And I also just really love travelling with her, like, showing her the world and just exploring. She loves travelling. She loves the airport. She loves airplanes.”
With Shai with her on the tour, Osaka has everything that she needs from a mental point of view to reclaim her lost glory as a top-notch female tennis star.
