WTA pro and former World No. 7 Danielle Collins joined the hosts of the Tennis Channel for an exclusive broadcast during the Miami Open. During the show, Collins shared a startling anecdote from her triumphant run in the 2024 tournament, leaving many fans and analysts puzzled.
On air, Collins was asked to share a locker room story that had never been heard before. The former Australian Open finalist recounted one involving her pet dog, Quincy, inadvertently defecating in front of a player’s locker room, with whom Collins had a rivalry on court, ultimately not naming the player and leaving the fellow hosts stunned.
“I was in the locker room. It was after hours. You’re usually not allowed to bring your dog into the locker room, but I brought Quincy in because no one was really in there. And Quincy was basically running around doing zoomies and getting really excited. And then he decided to take a poop right next to someone’s locker that I’m not a big fan of,” Collins said.
“So, I’m not going to mention the name of the player. Uh, I don’t want to throw anybody under the bus, of course, you know, cause I’m working on trying to be my best self, but Quincy did,” she added.
Fans took exception to Collins’ story and lashed out at the WTA star, with many calling her immature and shameful.
“Please, Tennis Channel, get someone who can speak nicely about others and not talk about herself constantly. She’s genuinely not a nice person,” one fan commented.
“Ms. Collins should be ashamed to tell this story. The dog followed its Owner’s cues. Hope she had the decency to clean it up and sanitize. Throw her out of this one,” another fan commented.
“How’s a woman her age so immature? What an embarrassment,” yet another fan commented.
Fans continued their criticism of Collins’ story, calling her a nasty person who was only embarrassing herself by sharing such a tale.
“I thought she was quite intense on court. But in fact just a nasty person,” one fan commented.
“It would not throw anybody under the bus, Danielle. It is not embarrassing anybody but you,” another fan commented.
“Danielle Collins and Coco Vandeweghe. The axis of evil,” another tweeted.
