“Aryna Sabalenka Is So Pretentious” – Coco Gauff Fans Call Out Belarusian Over ‘Fake’ Victory Speech At Miami Open

Aryna Sabalenka delivered a speech, praising Coco Gauff after winning against the American at the Miami Open finals. However, her speech did not sit right with some of the fans, as they accused her of being pretentious.

Sabalenka and Gauff advanced to the finals after besting some top-notch players at the Miami Open. They faced each other on March 28, where the Belarusian delivered a dominant performance, winning the first and the tie-breaker set of the match, claiming the tournament’s trophy with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory.

Following this win, both players proceeded to the trophy ceremony, where the world no. 1 gave a heartfelt speech, praising her opponent. The Tennis Letter posted a video of her speech on X, where she said:

“Coco, you’re so good in speeches I honestly don’t know what else to say. I wanna start with you. You’re a fighter. You also push me so hard to be a better player. I like our rivalry. You’re incredible. I’m happy to see you back in the finals. I really hope to play many more. Congrats to you and your team on an incredible job. Of course, thank you to everyone who made this tournament possible. Thank you, James, to take care of us the best way possible. Always, always enjoy playing, playing here, just being here also. So, thank you so much.”

Apart from skills on the court, the Belarusian is also known for her breakdowns after her losses. Pointing that out, several fans called her appreciation for Gauff “pretentious.”

Stating that her real personality is revealed only when she loses a final, one of the users on X wrote:

“She is so pretentious. Sabalenka attitude reveals her real personality when she loses a final.”

Another fan emphasizing the same point wrote:

“She’s only nice when she’s winning and rude when she’s losing.”

One of the followers mocked her, saying that she doesn’t know what to say that’s new in her speech:

“She dont know what else to say coz sabalenka always into the finals and need to say something new in her speech 😆”

    Another fan trolled her, writing:

Aryna Sabalenka on Winning the Miami Open

After winning the Miami Open final against Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka sat for a post-match press conference, where she fielded questions surrounding the ins and outs of nabbing the tournament’s trophy. Revealing how she feels about the feat, she exuded pride in herself and was ecstatic with the trophy.

“It means a lot. Um, my goal always been to put my name in the history, and I just did it, and it just sounds so, so unreal, and I don’t know how I was able to achieve that, but I’m super proud right now and, of course, super happy with this beautiful trophy,” said Aryna Sabalenka.

She further shared the analysis of her match, stating that she felt ‘great.’ However, her second set did not pan out as expect, but she was proud of how she handled her calm.

“I felt really great. I felt that the level was incredible, and yeah, second set wasn’t ideal at the end, but I knew that she’s going to try her very best to fight in this match to try to get this win. So, yeah, a couple things didn’t work really well in the last game and the second set, but I was just trying to um keep a positive mindset going to the third set. And I’m super happy with how well I handle my emotions and how well I stayed focused from the very beginning till the very end.”

Before the Miami Open, Aryna Sabalenka won the Indian Wells Masters against Elena Rybakina on March 15.
