After a dream start to his 2026 season, including a maiden Australian Open title and a 12-0 record after his Qatar Open victory, Carlos Alcaraz headed home to spend time with his family. After a week-long break, he will leave for Indian Wells for the first Masters 1000 tournament of the year, the BNP Paribas Open.
Alcaraz handed Novak Djokovic his first Australian Open final loss and became the youngest man to achieve the Career Grand Slam at 22 years, eight months, and 27 days old. After winning his seventh Major, the Spaniard reached Doha for the Qatar Open. He dropped just one set in five matches to win the ATP 500 event.
However, the World No. 1 skipped the ongoing Dubai Open and the Mexican Open to relax at home with his close ones. After the Qatar Open final, Alcaraz stressed the importance of breaks between tournaments, saying (via MARCA):
“Winning gives you a lot of confidence, but having those little breaks between tournaments is what really helps me. Going back home for a week now, even if it’s just training or having some days off.”
“I don’t know exactly what I’m going to do, but being home is what calms me down, what relaxes me, what makes me appreciate everything a little after each tournament, and especially each title. What’s coming up are special events for me, and we’ll see how they go. For now, let’s enjoy the Doha Falcon, which is beautiful,” he added.
Carlos Alcaraz Weighs In On Winning 9 of Last 13 Tournaments
Carlos Alcaraz enjoyed the 2025 season, as he won 71 of his 80 matches. He won eight singles titles, including the French Open and the US Open. After his Qatar Open victory, he was informed by reporters that he had won nine of his last 13 tournaments.
Reacting to this, the 22-year-old said:
“I’m very happy. This is what we work for: to win titles and be at the top. That’s my ambition. Winning nine of the last 13 tournaments shows the consistency I’m achieving. Doha was a tournament I wanted to win, one I was eager to come to.”
“What makes me happiest is seeing myself achieve my goals. That’s what I’m most proud of. Now it’s time to move on, to appreciate everything a little, enjoy it, and keep going,” he added.
His next assignment is the ATP 1000 Indian Wells Open, a tournament he has won twice, in 2023 and 2024. The youngster will look to maintain his undefeated run in the ongoing season and win his ninth Masters title.
