Ben Shelton recently touched on his Christian faith and his ongoing religious journey, outlining how he intends to use his influence as a global tennis star to be a positive example for people. Shelton is currently participating at the ATP 500 Dallas Open, where he has reached the final, in which he is set to lock horns with compatriot and fellow top 10 star Taylor Fritz.
On Saturday, February 14, Noah Christian Dion Myers, better known as King Dion, took to his Instagram and shared a video of an exchange he shared with Ben Shelton amid the World No. 9’s Dallas Open participation. Here, Shelton told the American entrepreneur, social media influencer and Houston-based tennis player about the ‘next steps’ in his religious journey, saying:
“Being a pro athlete, you always have a cool opportunity, a platform, lot of eyes on you, so I think that being able to be a light to the world, lead by example, be a positive voice is something that I’ve always strived for, using your platform the right way. Obviously, we live in a self-serving world and I think the more that you can be in a position of influence or in front of the camera and be selfless and really lead from example more than just preaching and saying things I think is really important for me and my next steps.”
23-year-old Shelton has so far come out on top against Gabriel Diallo, Adrian Mannarino, Miomir Kecmanovic and Denis Shapovalov to secure his progress to the final of the 2026 Dallas Open.
Ben Shelton Thanked God In Emotional Confession After Canadian Open Success Last Year
At the 2025 Canadian Open, Ben Shelton won his maiden ATP Masters 1000 crown after registering wins over Mannarino, Brandon Nakashima, Flavio Cobolli, Alex de Minaur, Fritz and Karen Khachanov. While delivering his speech after clinching the final in three sets, Shelton briefly touched on his faith before sending a moving message to his family and soccer star girlfriend Trinity Rodman. The former Florida Gators star said:
“I want to thank God. I feel so blessed. To have opportunities like this, not many people in life get to experience things like this. The joy I feel today isn’t just because of the win. It’s because of the people I get to spend every day with. The people I love. The people that love me. The people that will fight for me and have my back.”
A win in the upcoming championship match in Dallas against Fritz would mark Shelton’s fourth ATP Tour-level singles title and his second ATP 500 crown.
