Amanda Anisimova will now turn her attention to the Miami Open 2026 following the conclusion of her campaign at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. The season’s fourth WTA 1000 tournament will take place from March 17-29.
Following a first-round bye at Indian Wells, Anisimova rallied from a set down to beat Anna Blinkova 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 in the second round. She crushed 25th seed Emma Raducanu 6-1, 6-1 in the third round. However, the American was outfoxed by 10th seed Victoria Mboko in the fourth round, who beat her 6-4, 6-1.
After failing to break her fourth-round jinx at Indian Wells, Anisimova will aim to cross that hurdle at the Miami Open. She has a 5-6 record in Miami, and progressed to the fourth round for the first time last year. She beat Mayar Sherif and Mirra Andreeva before losing to Raducanu a year ago.
Anisimova has performed reasonably well this year. She has a 9-5 record, with a semifinal at the Dubai Open and a quarterfinal at the Australian Open being the highlights. While she has never advanced beyond the fourth round in Miami, she has a pretty decent shot to do so this year.
Amanda Anisimova Handed A Fairly Easy Draw At The Miami Open 2026
The Miami Open 2026 women’s singles draw was released on Sunday, March 15. Amanda Anisimova will be the sixth seed and will receive a first-round bye along all other seeded players. The American, who usually hasn’t performed that well in Miami, has a chance to overturn her fortunes thanks to a kind draw.
Anisimova will begin her campaign against either Simona Waltert or Ajla Tomljanovic. 30th seed Cristina Bucsa is likely to be her third-round opponent. She could run into either 12th seed Belinda Bencic or 20th seed Diana Shnaider in the fourth round. Fourth seed Coco Gauff could be her quarterfinal opponent. However, Gauff also hasn’t made it past the fourth round in Miami.
Second seed Iga Swiatek, eighth seed Mirra Andreeva, and 10th seed Victoria Mboko are among Anisimova’s probable semifinal opponents. One of top seed and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka, third seed Elena Rybakina, or fifth seed Jessica Pegula could await the American in the final.
Anisimova has a pretty decent shot to reach her maiden quarterfinal at the Miami Open thanks to a favorable draw. She has won two WTA 1000 titles in her career thus far, in Doha and Beijing last year. She will now aim to claim her third title at this level, and her first of the season, over the next fortnight in Miami.
