According to the CFN Strength of Schedule, the South Alabama 2024 football schedule is the sixth most difficult in the Sun Belt. While the conference schedule carries some potential pitfalls, the Jaguars’ season starts with a mix of opponents from outside the Sun Belt who could upset Applewhite’s apple cart before the new campaign is in full swing.
A Thursday night clash with non-FBS outfit the Northwestern State Demons in Week 3 is the only slam dunk on the early portion of the South Alabama 2024 football schedule. The North Texas Mean Green will be a difficult opponent to open the season. A road trip to Athens to face the Ohio Bobcats is fraught with difficulty before you get to Death Valley and LSU in Week 5.
While the South Alabama 2024 football schedule is the sixth most difficult in the Sun Belt, it could have been a lot harder. The Jaguars will entertain two contenders — the Troy Trojans and Texas State Bobcats — that would have been a significantly tougher mission on the road. Meanwhile, they avoid the James Madison Dukes altogether in another dodged bullet.
