“The Play Is Horrible”: Deion Sanders Bluntly Gives Colorado Buffaloes Reality Check Post Comeback

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is in training camp with his players. While he revealed his bladder cancer and treatment on Monday, he has not taken a step back from his coaching duties. Instead, he is the same Deion Sanders that fans came to love at Colorado over the past two seasons.

On Wednesday, “Well Off Media” posted a YouTube video with behind-the-scenes footage of Coach Prime addressing his team and looking at a play. He pulled up a play that he called “horrible” and broke down what everyone on the field could have done to improve that.

“The play is horrible. I don’t like the play, but watch this,” Deion Sanders said (1:00). “See what’s gonna happen right there, George got that, he’s gonna make a cut back and we’re gonna have a pursuit. So, all the guys right here that gave up, they could be in the play. Defense get the block, go back down. Now we do something stupid.”

The clip ended there but showed good insight into what it is like to receive feedback from Coach Prime as a member of the Colorado Buffaloes. He is not rude or mean when giving advice, but he is honest and does not hesitate to let players know when they make a mistake.

Deion Sanders Speaks About His Passion for Coaching

On Monday, Deion Sanders sat down for a press conference with the Colorado Buffaloes medical team. He revealed that he had his bladder removed because of a cancerous tumor discovered in it. That was why he was absent from the team throughout parts of the offseason. Fortunately, the surgery was a success and he does not need to undergo chemotherapy.

There was speculation in the Colorado fanbase that Coach Prime might take a step back from coaching now that his health has become an issue. Fortunately for Colorado fans, that is not something Sanders is considering at this time. At the press conference, he spoke about his passion for coaching and how he always planned to return to the team.

“I always knew I was going to coach again. It was never in my spirit, in my heart, that God wouldn’t allow me to coach again,” Deion Sanders said. “I just didn’t want to be running down to the hospital once a week when I have all of this on my plate. I don’t want that. I was like, ‘OK, can they bring one of those machines and put them in the office?'”
