Michigan’s decision to fire head coach Sherrone Moore for cause sent shockwaves through college football. The university said it found evidence of an inappropriate relationship involving a staff member, and within hours, Moore was also detained by police as part of a separate investigation.
Moore’s sudden dismissal created a frenzy online as people tried to piece together what happened. According to podcaster Justin Spiro, Paige Shrver was the staffer involved in the matter.
Shiver is a member of Michigan’s athletic department, and her name has circulated online following Moore’s firing. Here are five facts about her.
Daughter of a Bears Scout
Paige Shiver comes from a family deeply involved in sports. Her father, Jeff Shiver, is a longtime scout for the Chicago Bears and has spent years evaluating talent at the NFL level. He introduced Paige to the professional side of the sport.
Recent Promotion at Michigan
Shiver joined the University of Michigan athletic department in 2021 and gradually moved into a more prominent operations role. She was later promoted to Executive Assistant to the Head Coach in 2024.
Past Health Challenge
Shiver has been open about living with Pompe Disease, a rare muscular disorder. She was diagnosed after experiencing fatigue and weakness, and the condition required ongoing treatment that shifted her lifestyle.
“I would go for a run and couldn’t run for more than five minutes because my lungs started getting affected,” Paige was quoted as saying by the Bears website in 2016. “It was really hard to catch my breath and my legs felt really heavy, like I could barely lift them up.”
Education and Early Career
Before entering college athletics, Shiver studied at Purdue University, where she developed skills in nonprofit and athletic administration. She worked in development and marketing roles, including time with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which connected closely with her own health journey.
Her experience in fundraising and operations helped shape her career before Michigan hired her.
Uncle Emerson Kampen’s Basketball Background
Shiver’s family ties in sports go beyond football. Her uncle, Emerson Kampen III, is known for his work in basketball analysis and for his connection to Butler basketball as a former player and contributor. His involvement in sports media adds another layer to the family’s athletic background.
