LeBron James’ Daughter Zhuri Steals the Show With Jump Serve as Salt Lake Stuns Austin in Five-Set Thriller at LOVB Championship

After the playoffs, the 2026 LOVB Championships has entered into its final deciding matches, which are taking place in Long Beach. The first match of week 15 was highlighted with a special memory as LeBron James’ daughter, Zhuri James, turned heads with her serve.

After winning the golden sets, LOVB Salt Lake and LOVB Austin advanced to the LOVB Championship and locked horns with each other in game 1 on April 17 at Long Beach. LOVB Salt Lake has moved one step closer to the championship trophy after getting the better of their opponent, claiming an impressive 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 27-25, 16-14) win.

This was an intense showdown, as it played a major role in deciding which team will head towards the trophy. Apart from the scoreboard and the stellar performance of the players, another moment that earned the spotlight was the special appearance of LeBron James’ daughter Zhuri. Zhuri plays competitive club volleyball in Southern California, and is associated with the City Volleyball Club. She stole the show by kicking off the match with the first serve.

A video of this special moment was shared by Yahoo Sports on Instagram. Here is the clip:

Now, both the teams will again square off against each other on April 19 at the same stadium. If LOVB Salt Lake again wins the match-up, they will be crowned champion; however, if the opponent team claims the win, a ‘golden set’ to 15 points will be played to determine the winner.

LOVB Salt Lake player Serena Gray opened up about what the 24 hours before their game at the 2026 LOVB Championships look like

Before the LOVB Salt Lake vs. LOVB Austin matchup at the 2026 LOVB Championships, the players from both teams sat for a conversation with E! News!. Salt Lake’s middle blocker, Serena Gray, also spoke to the media, where she was asked about what the 24 hours before the game looked like. Responding to this, she revealed that they go over their game plan and discuss the necessities.

“Going over the game plan with people in your position, but then also next to you about like what you’re going to do defensively. Meeting with your setter, talking about your plan, what you want to do. Really good warm-up, 1 hour warm-up minimum. Steam machine, resistant bands, and then go crazy,” said LOVB player Gray.
Shortly after Gray, Roni Jones-Perry also spoke to the media, where she opened up about the advice she would give her younger self.
“Enjoy it a little bit more. I think it’s really easy in the sports atmosphere today to like really put your head down and not be able to look up and see the people around you and enjoy the places that you’re in and just the opportunity that it is to play sport. Um, so I think I would tell myself to just like slow down, loosen your grip a little bit and enjoy the little things in between,” said Jones-Perry.

LOVB Salt Lake and LOVB Austin advanced to the final rounds of the LOVB Championships by besting Houston and Atlanta respectively in the playoffs.
