Jax Forrest Recounts Hilarious Post-Match Mix-Up Inside Rocket Arena at NCAA Championship

The recently crowned NCAA champion, Jax Forrest, had shared an amusing story of him not being able to find his way out of the arena after the final bout. His parents assumed he was kidnapped, while Forrest spent his time wandering around.

Forrest recently beat Ben Davino at 133 lbs in the D1 finals to grab the NCAA title. He came in undefeated this season and got the No. 1 seed for the D1 tournament.

After the win, as Forrest went through the usual ceremonial process of podium stands, press interviews, and trophy hoisting, he found himself in an unusual situation at the Rocket Center. Forrest, all of a sudden, found himself helpless, as he couldn’t find his way out of the arena, nor could he get to his parents, who had called him to find out where the champion was stranded.

While speaking to an outlet, Forrest recounted the segment and spoke of how worried his parents got while he, still in his wrestling gear, walked around the arena, looking for an exit door.

“My mom picked up, and said, ‘Jax, where are you, we’re looking for you, we thought you were missing, we thought you got abducted or something,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, oh my god.’ Yeah, I still got my knee pads on, my singlets on, and everything, and I was like, ‘I don’t know where I am.’ I was like, ‘I was just walking outside and am just gonna wander around until I find you guys,'” he said.

Forrest, however, managed to find the exit with some help and highlighted how eventful the evening was. Furthermore, through his recent media interactions, he made it clear how grateful he is to have earned the national honors.

Jax Forrest Talks About Getting His Match Scheduled For The End

During the D1 wrestling finals, Jax Forrest vs. Ben Davino’s bout was scheduled as the final match of the event.

Forrest took a jibe at the decision and revealed that he initially got a little wary after hearing the news, but quickly reset himself, exemplifying his multiple stints of wrestling high-level bouts that often put him in the last scheduled matches.

“I’ve been wrestling high-level guys throughout my high school, so I’ve been the last match, countless times, so in my head I was like, ‘Oh, ain’t nothing new,’ and it’s something that could actually benefit me,” he said (0:37).

He also highlighted how his assistant head coach, Jimmy Kennedy, helped him remain focused, even to the point of limiting him from getting too invested in the bouts of his teammates.
