Ohio State Buckeyes Reminisce National Championship Glory With Powerful Message

During the regular season, Day once again found himself in trouble. Ohio State lost at home to Michigan which was the head coach’s fourth-straight loss against their rival. This led to a massive uproar from fans who wanted the program to fire Day.

However, Day and the Buckeyes used that loss to fuel their motivation and strength. Despite the loss, they went on to qualify for the 12-team College Football Playoff. In the playoffs, the Buckeyes showed off their strength, cruising through teams like Tennessee, Oregon, and Texas to face Notre Dame in the finals.

On social media, Ohio State posted a photo reminiscing the success of winning a national championship. The post included a black-and-white snippet from the championship against Notre Dame with a powerful message accompanying it.

“They said we Couldn’t, Wouldn’t, Shouldn’t. So we did,” the post said.

The Buckeyes rolled the Fighting Irish in the championship with a 34-23 victory. This took the pressure off Day and the possibility of him being on the hot seat. He can now focus on ending their losing streak against the Wolverines while aiming for another national championship next season.

Ryan Day Admits Kyle McCord’s Departure From Ohio State Was a ‘Difficult Situation’

Ohio State’s quarterback department saw some trouble ahead of the 2024 season when Kyle McCord announced his decision to transfer. He spent three seasons with the Buckeyes. After serving as the backup to C.J. Stroud, McCord was named the starting quarterback for the 2023 season.

However, McCord then decided to transfer to Syracuse in December 2023. While speaking with A to Z Sports, Ryan Day admitted that the quarterback’s decision to transfer put them in a tough spot.

“The Kyle McCord situation was a difficult (situation),” Day said. “Guys on this team and myself, we loved Kyle…he was a huge part of this team, so that situation was not easy for anybody.”

Day decided to bring in Will Howard as McCord’s replacement. The Kansas State transfer quarterback turned out to be the perfect fit for the team. Howard recorded 4,010 passing yards and 35 passing touchdowns while leading the team to a national championship. He was also honored as the CFP National Championship Game Offensive MVP.
