Marie-Philip Poulin and Laura Stacey share more than Olympic gold, which they won in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. The Canadian hockey stars are married and continue to play side by side for their PWHL team and country. Now, they are representing Canada together in the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The couple married on September 28, 2024, in Low, Quebec. Their ceremony took place at Le Peaches and Cream and included several teammates and sports figures. During her vows, Stacey called Poulin the wish she had always dreamed of.
“We always go back to that moment,” Stacey said, via CBS in November 2024. “Even in my wedding vows, that was the thing – that she was the wish I had always dreamed of and I didn’t realize it until now.”
Poulin and Stacey first met through the national team in 2017. They felt an early connection at a team event in Blue Mountain, Ontario. A late-night moment watching a shooting star became part of their story, after which they started to connect.
They began dating in 2018 and announced their engagement in May 2023 with the caption,
“So…this happened 💍❤️ Best question I ever asked…she said OUI 😍”
Stacey has built a strong resume as a professional player. She joined Team Canada in 2017 and won Olympic silver in 2018 and gold in 2022. At the professional level, she plays forward for the Montreal Victoire in the PWHL, skating on a line with Poulin since 2023. Hockey runs in her family, as she is the great-granddaughter of Hall of Famer King Clancy and wears No. 7 in his honour.
As of 2026, the couple lives in Montreal with their golden retriever, Arlo. On the ice, they chase titles together. Off the ice, they build a life rooted in hockey and partnership.
Stacey Reacted to Poulin’s 2026 Olympics Injury
Earlier this week, Poulin left Canada’s preliminary-round win over Czechia with a lower-body injury. As a result, she did not play in the rivalry game against the United States. Poulin limped off in the first period after a hard hit from Kristyna Kaltounkova, whose arm appeared to make contact with her helmet.
Her partner, Stacey, reacted to the injury, saying,
“I do know no matter what, we’re all going to stick together. We are going to support her, and I know she’s going to support us, so whatever happens, I know that our team is in great hands.”
Team Canada lost to the United States with a shutout in Poulin’s absence.
