It will be held at the Lenovo Center, providing the Hurricanes with a much-needed home ice edge. The game has generated a lot of buzz, and more than 18 thousand spectators are expected to attend.

The Flyers have advanced to the second round after defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins in a grueling first series. Philadelphia dominated the first three games, gaining a 3-0 lead. From there, things started to turn in the Penguins’ favor, and they managed a decent comeback with two wins. However, the Flyers were able to seal the round in Game 6 with a 1-0 score.

On the other hand, the Hurricanes have been in excellent form this season, qualifying for the playoffs by winning the Metropolitan Division. Even in Round 1, they dominated the Ottawa Senators, sweeping the series with victories in the first four games.

Interestingly, before the series between the Flyers and the Hurricanes began, their head coaches appeared to be on the same page on one point. The two HCs have acknowledged that having additional time before Round 2 would have been advantageous to them. And, while they wished they had two more days, they believe they are prepared for the forthcoming battle.

According to the AP News, the Hurricanes HC Rod Brind’Amour stated,

“You like having a couple of days to decompress, but then you want to get right at it, and we didn’t have that. We’ll see how we come out; it could help us, it might not, I don’t know. We’ll see. It’s an interesting debate, everybody has it when you have this much time off.”

Sharing a similar view, the Flyers HC Rick Tocchet stated,

“My mind went, ‘Aw man, I wish we had two more days to prepare. But then I’m thinking, ‘No, I want us to stay with the same routine.’”

Tocchet has also shared the ideology that the slate is clean for the Flyers, and they will be working with 0-0 once again.
