Patrick Kane has accomplished the unthinkable by surpassing Brett Hull on the NHL’s all-time scoring list among American-born players. Kane reached a new career total of 1,392 points with one goal and two assists against the Philadelphia Flyers, moving one point ahead of Hull.
This is one of Kane’s most significant achievements, as Hull has long been recognized as one of the greatest goal scorers in NHL history, with 741 goals. It also marks Kane’s second major milestone in 2026, after he previously surpassed Mike Modano to become the highest-scoring U.S.-born player of all time.
In addition to these accomplishments, Kane also reached 500 career goals earlier this season, another monumental feat. The Detroit Red Wings acknowledged the milestone, noting that he now ranks 26th on the NHL’s all-time scoring list. The team also shared a video of the goal on X with the caption,
“Patrick Kane (1,392 career points) has passed Brett Hull (1,391) for sole possession of 26th place on the @NHL ‘s all-time scoring list! #LGRW”
Kane was the first overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft and spent his first 16 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks. During that time, he won the Stanley Cup three times (2010, 2013, and 2015). He later joined the New York Rangers for the 2022–23 season, appearing in just 16 games.
Kane subsequently joined the Detroit Red Wings, but even after three seasons, he has yet to help the team reach the playoffs. The Red Wings are currently in the midst of a 10-year playoff drought, one of the longest active streaks in the NHL.
