Matthew Tkachuk is one of the most well-known hockey players in the world right now following his exploits at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Team USA star has made several high-profile appearances since his team’s gold-winning run.
Recently, he was seen attending the TGL, team-based golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The TGL is about to wrap up its second season, and the first best-of-three TGL finals game took place on Monday, March 23, at SoFi Center.
Tkachuk met Tiger Woods there, and the two talked about a lot of stuff behind the scenes. In an interview with Sportsnet, the Florida Panthers star even discussed how he felt after meeting Woods for the first time, saying,
“It was awesome. We were just I don’t know a lot of just hanging out, small talk, and talking about what it meant to meant to win this. I mean, he watched everybody watch right, so to feel that support from him and everybody else, like how much they believed and cared in that. Cared about our team was just so amazing.”
In the same interview, Matthew Tkachuk also talked about his TGL experience, noting all that made his experience even more surreal. He said,
“It’s pretty amazing, but I think it’s crazy, like the screen it’s huge. But from like where they’re hitting from, like I mean, I could spray it left or right, as that would be. Definitely in play for me to miss that screen and to the left and right. They’re like the nicest TVs ever, so might be a disaster if I was here, but these guys were hitting some absolute bombs off the tee, so it’s me fun to watch.”
The Panthers are the reigning Stanley Cup champions, however, ranked eighth in the Atlantic Division with 71 points and a record of 35-33-3, it seems unlikely they’ll be making the playoffs this season to defend their crown.
Matthew Tkachuk still caught up in the Olympic trance

It was a historic moment for Team USA as they won Olympic gold after overcoming arch-rivals Canada in the finals of the games held at Milan. Interestingly, heading into the game, Team Canada were the favorites to win it all.
Despite the odds being stacked against them, it was a close game between the two sides, with the USA eventually winning the game thanks to an overtime goal by Jack Hughes.
Matthew Tkachuk talked about the historic triumph same interview, noting that it still feels like it happened yesterday. While discussing his brother Brady Tkachuk, Matthew stated:
“Well, it’s a little bit different for me too because Brady’s in Canada, where we beat Canada. I’m in the US, where everywhere we go, people are still talking. It’s almost like we’re it’s like the next day after we won, that every day like it’s been absolutely amazing. Everybody I come in contact with they just want to talk about tell stories. So it almost feels like you’re still in Milan every day with the amount of stories.”
Following a narrow defeat against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday, the Panthers now face the Islanders next to hopefully pull off a miracle and get one step closer to clinching a Wildcard spot.
