After winning two straight games, the Minnesota Wild have pushed the Dallas Stars to the brink of elimination. The Wild won two major victories in Games 4 and 5 against the Stars to take a 3-2 series lead.
With their Game 5 victory, the Wild has set up Dallas for a do-or-die situation during Game 6. The puck will drop for the sixth faceoff between the two teams on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. It will take place in the Xcel Energy Center, which means Minnesota will have a significant home ice advantage, making things even tougher for Dallas.

The Minnesota Wild have dominated the pace of this series thus far. The key thing working for them is 5-on-5, as the Stars have been unable to score a single breakthrough goal in the previous two games during 5-on-5.
The Wild have been owning the ice up to this point, and if they keep up their current pace, they may be able to play their first Western Conference Semifinal since 2015.
Mats Zuccarello’s presence has also been a significant factor for Minnesota. The right winger has been in excellent form, and his team’s performance suffered when he was out (Games 2-4). Zuccarello even proved his importance in Game 5 by scoring the Wild’s first goal, giving them much-needed momentum in the start.
Wild Defenseman Called Game 5 Triumph “Awesome”

Brock Faber, a Minnesota defenseman, discussed his team’s dramatic Game 5 win over the Stars in a locker room interview. Faber stated that it was a significant deal for him, and he was there on the ice to hear the reaction of the fans following the victory.
He even went on to say that the Wild are having fun with the series right now since they are able to push back the Stars and take the lead.
According to the NHL’s official website, Faber said:
“I can’t wait to hear that crowd. I’d play tomorrow if we could. It’s awesome, it’s fun. They’re going to have a huge pushback, obviously, and we’ve got to outcompete them again and give ourselves a chance. We’re getting better as the series goes on. That’s the goal.”
Michael McCarron also discussed the huge win, claiming that solid decisions contributed to their victory. He went on to add:
“It’s huge. We try to make teams go the full 200 feet. We’re not really having more than two to three turnovers a game that lead to odd-man rushes. This team is really skilled; they know how to score on the rush, and we’re just trying not to let them get too much on the rush. I think we’re making really good puck decisions.”
The Stars did not make a push at 5-on-5 until McCarron scored in Game 5.
