The Minnesota Wild has yet to defeat the Colorado Avalanche in Round 2 of the 2026 NHL Playoffs. The two teams have played two games at Colorado’s home arena, the Bell Center, with the Avalanche winning both.
Until now, their faceoffs have been high scoring, with Game 1 ending with a total score of 9-6 and Game 2 ending with a total score of 5-2 in favour of Colorado. Despite being down 0-2 in the series, the Wild still have a chance to make a comeback with the upcoming two games taking place at the Xcel Energy Center, giving them much-needed home ice advantage.

In addition to him, Martin Necas and Gabriel Landeskog each scored and assisted on one goal. Interestingly, Colorado’s defense was also excellent in the game, with Scott Wedgewood making a total of 29 saves.
So far, the Avalanche has been quite dominant in the playoffs, including a 4-0 sweep against the Los Angeles Kings in Round 1. Following that, they won two games against the Wild, extending their winning streak to six games.
The Avalanche HC is pleased with his team’s performance in Game 2

Following the big Game 2 victory, head coach Jared Bednar spoke about his team’s effort in a postgame interview. Bednar emphasized that the team’s performance in the game was significantly improved, but that they still needed to sort out some issues. He also asserted that Colorado was looking committed in the game and that they were able to do a good job this time during the 5-on-5 faceoff.
According to the NHL website, Jared Bednar stated,
“Much better tonight. Still made a couple mistakes, for sure. Things we can continue to clean up to tighten things up, but I thought the commitment was there; the details were much better in all situations. It’s a hard-fought game. The difference for me is special teams. We did a nice job 5-on-5; they did a better job 5-on-5.”
Bednar later went on to add,
“It’s much harder to create dangerous scoring chances and looks. We gave them a couple and found a way to get a little bit better even than we were tonight. But overall, I thought it was a really good game.”
Game 3 could be tricky for Colorado as it will be their first one on the Wild’s home turf. But if they can secure it, they would put the Wild on the verge of elimination.
