The Buffalo Sabres are all set to now play against the Montreal Canadiens in Round 2 of the NHL Playoffs. Both teams had a competitive Round 1, with the Canadiens having to play all seven games to ultimately win the series.
This is a faceoff that has not been seen in the NHL in a long time, which is why there is a ton of buzz for this series. The last time these two clubs met in the playoffs was in 1993, and at that time, Montreal was able to dominate and sweep the series 4-0. This year’s first game between them will be played on Wednesday, May 6, with the puck dropping at 7 p.m.
For the fans who are looking to watch the game, here are the channels they can tune in to:

The Canadiens faced the Tampa Bay Lightning in Round 1, as both teams dominated each other one-on-one. After a tense 3-3 tie, Montreal sealed the victory in a nail-biting Game 7, with only one goal separating the teams. They finished with a total score of 2-1, with Alex Newhook’s final goal in the third period sealing the game and series.
The Sabres, on the other hand, faced the Boston Bruins in the first round, and their series was also quite close. The Bruins won some crucial games in the series, bringing the score to 3-2 going into Game 6. However, the Sabres controlled their sixth faceoff and finished with a total score of 4-1, securing a 4-2 lead in the series.
The Sabres’ head coach is optimistic about Round 2 of the NHL playoffs

The Sabres won Round 1 on May 2 with the massive Game 6 win over the Bruins. Interestingly, the team has a few days off, and head coach Lindy Ruff pointed out that in order to keep things fresh, they are utilizing these days. Ruff noted that the Buffalo Sabres are aiming to continue getting connected with every player so that they can carry the energy and off-ice camaraderie into the next playoff round.
According to the NHL’s official website, Ruff highlighted in an interview,
“We just want to stay in the every-other-day type of routine. By practicing today, we’ll take tomorrow and make sure it’s an off-ice, and then get a good practice in the day before we play and be ready to go.”
The HC went on to say that, while the Bruins’ victory made them happy, they are now attempting to transfer that energy into the next series. He went on to say,
“After winning and feeling great, it was just good to get back on the ice and get the juices flowing again, and get the hands and the feet trying to work together.”
The scoreboard for the Sabres and the Canadiens is once again set at 0-0, and fans should expect a highly contested series from here on out.
