The Carolina Hurricanes have been flawless in their 2026 Playoffs campaign thus far. They first cleaned swept the Ottawa Senators in Round 1, and they are now up 2-0 against the Philadelphia Flyers. With this lead, the team will fly to Philadelphia tomorrow for their third faceoff.

The Flyers advanced to Round 2 of the NHL Playoffs after upsetting one of their fiercest rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Following that, Philadelphia lost all momentum by dropping two straight games. Both games were played in the Hurricanes’ home arena, but the Flyers can maintain the same home ice advantage for the next two games.

Game 3 will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2026, with puck drop at 8 p.m. ET. For the fans who intend to watch the game at home, here are the channels on which the game will be played:

    • TV Channel: ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2
    • Streaming Platforms: DIRECTV, Fubo, ESPN App, Hulu, and Max
    • Radio: 97.5 The Fanatic

Until now, the two sides have played completely opposite games. The Hurricanes dominated Game 1, handing the Flyers a massive blowout loss with a total score of 3-0. Compared to that, Game 2 was pretty different, with Philadelphia putting up a massive fight.

The Flyers managed to gain an early advantage in Game 2 by scoring two goals in the opening session. The Hurricanes eventually made a comeback, scoring once in the first period and again in the third to force overtime. Interestingly, the overtime period lasted 18:54, after which Taylor Hall broke through and shot the goal, putting Carolina up 2-0 in the series.

Taylor Hall’s overtime goal in Game 2 marked his first Stanley Cup playoff overtime goal. Following the game, Hall discussed it, claiming that he had little memory of the goal as he fell after it. He also mentioned that he wasn’t very good at attacking in this game, but everything worked out in the end.

According to the NHL’s official website, Hall stated,

“I just watched it. I didn’t realize that I fell down. When you score in overtime, it seems like part of your memory kind of goes. I didn’t do a very good job of attacking tonight, personally. I got that puck, and I wanted to go to the middle of the ice as much as I could. I got a shot off and got the rebound. That was an overtime goal for sure.”

On the other hand, Flyers coach Rick Tocchet discussed the goal, noting that his club was good, but Carolina, in the end, with Taylor Hall, just got the job done. According to the NHL website, Tocchet said,

“We played a good hockey game. It was well-fought by both teams. I really liked how the young guys competed. I’m really proud of these guys. (Carolina) just made the play at the end. That’s it.”

The Flyers need to get a win in Game 3, or they will be on the verge of elimination from the 2026 NHL Playoffs.
