“Panthers Are Getting McKenna” – Fans React As Canucks Finish 32nd, Have Best Odds for 1st Overall Pick in 2026 NHL Draft

The Vancouver Canucks went through a horrible season, and it finished the 2025-26 season as the worst team in the NHL. With a record of 25-49-8, the squad is 32nd in the league.

The Canucks will likely receive the first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, with a current percentage of 25.5%. NHL News reported about this on X with a post that read:

“OFFICIAL: #Canucks will finish the 2025-26 season in 32nd place as the worst team in the NHL and will have the best odds for the 1st overall pick in the upcoming draft, at 25.5%.”

Under the comments of this post, fans began discussing the 18-year-old Canadian forward Gavin McKenna, who is anticipated to be the first overall choice in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Fans predicted that, despite having the best odds, the Canucks would lose the lottery and that other teams, such as the Florida Panthers or the Chicago Blackhawks, would almost certainly choose McKenna.

Talking more about these fans’ comments, here’s a look at a few of them:

“The panthers are getting McKenna. Don’t ask how I can feel it. Vancouver doesn’t ever have luck on their side,” one fan stated.

“They are going to make Rangers or someone else win lottery.” One fan pointed out.

“Everyone knows chicago will get mckenna 😭,” Another fan stated.

“It’s an absolutely stacked class, even if they pick 2nd or 3rd they have a good shot at nabbing a star,” One fan claimed.

“100% sure Chicago pick first 🤣,” another fan pointed out.

Aside from the NHL Draft, the Canucks can also expect significant changes following this season.

Following the disastrous 2025-26 season, there could be numerous changes to the Canucks’ leadership. Following the abrupt termination of Brad Treliving by the Maple Leafs, the Canucks decided to do the same by firing Patrik Allvin.

The news of Allvin’s firing came on Friday. This should just be the start and it should be a long busy offseason for the Canucks.
