David Pastrnak’s quest for the Stanley Cup continues as the Boston Bruins are eliminated from the 2026 NHL Playoffs. The Buffalo Sabres finally sealed their Eastern Conference Round 1 series with a dominant 4-1 win in Game 6.
Interestingly, following this loss, David Pastrnak discussed a variety of topics, including an injury he suffered in November. The right winger was hurt during the November 26 game against the New York Islanders, but the nature of the injury was never revealed. It was only reported at that time that Pastrnak was ruled out due to a lower-body ailment, which the player recently disclosed to be a torn groin.
According to reports, David Pastrnak revealed that the injuries had left him mentally disturbed. Pastrnak claimed to be afraid of pain as a result of his groin tear, which prevented him from skating. Bridgette Proulx, an NHL reporter, revealed it all in an X post that read,
“Pastrnak said he dealt with a small tear in his groin in November. He said he had trouble mentally getting back to a place where he wasn’t worried about having pain in when he took strides.”
Despite the setback, Pastrnak finished with a strong regular season this year. He ended up playing 77 games, scoring 29 goals and 71 assists for a total of 100 points along with a plus-minus of +4. The 29-year-old’s excellent play continued into the playoffs, where he scored three goals and four assists for a total of seven points in six games.
David Pastrnak describes his playoff exit as “disappointing”

Following the disappointing Game 6 and series loss to the Sabres, David Pastrnak was irritated by the playoff exit. In an interview, he admitted that not winning a Stanley Cup is still painful for him. Pastrnak stated that he will be 30 shortly, so he is not young, and still being without a cup is not a good feeling for him.
According to the NESN, Pastrnak stated,
“Of course it’s disappointing. I’m turning 30 in a couple of weeks, so, had one sniff at the Cup so far, and yeah, it’s getting harder every single year. That’s what I tell the young guys now that I – what Bergy (Patrice Bergeron) and those guys told you when I was young. You know, when you’re younger, you look at it way differently than when you are 30.”
The forward went on to add,
“The season is a blink of an eye. I remember being young, and each season felt like forever. January comes, you feel like it should be over, and when you’re older, and you have family, and you have outside life, you know, it’s a blink of an eye. So you don’t want to waste any opportunity.”
David Pastrnak has been the Bruins’ cornerstone for a while now, and this is not going to change anytime soon. There have been rumors that the team currently does not have any major plans and instead wants to retool around Pastrnak only for the upcoming season.
