Canada’s Connor McDavid Speaks Out on the Chaos Line of Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett & Tom Wilson

Connor McDavid could not hide his smile when asked about Canada’s most talked-about trio. Ahead of Sunday’s Olympic gold medal game against the United States, McDavid addressed the line of Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett and Tom Wilson.

Speaking to the media, McDavid joked about how many millions in NHL fines the three may have combined for over the years.

“Pretty fun to see them all three together, like, how many, how much money, millions of NHL fines they contributed all together as a line,” McDavid said. “Yeah, pretty, pretty funny line. But provided a massive goal.

“Ultimately, I think it was them that shifted the game. Truthfully.”

McDavid was talking about how the group truly changed the momentum against Finland.

Canada trailed in the semifinal before that trio took the ice. Bennett won the offensive-zone faceoff. Marchand battled behind the net to keep the puck alive. Wilson fired a shot that led to Shea Theodore’s tying goal through traffic.

That moment sparked a 3-2 comeback win and sent Canada to the final at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Head coach Jon Cooper leaned on grit when his team needed it most. Canada has now produced back-to-back comeback wins in the knockout round after surviving Czechia in overtime.

McDavid, serving as captain with Sidney Crosby sidelined, continues to lead the tournament in scoring. He has 13 points so far in this tournament. However, in their last two games, it is clear that depth matters.

Sunday’s clash with Team USA will test every line. But the Chaos Line has proved that it can tilt the ice when the stakes rise.

Canada Coach Talked About Nathan MacKinnon’s Game Winner

Earlier, after Canada’s semifinal win, Jon Cooper praised the work behind Nathan MacKinnon’s late winner. He pointed to the effort that kept the play alive.

“[MacKinnon] got rewarded for the wall battle right before that,” Canada coach Jon Cooper said. “It had been a long shift for the guys, a long way to go in the change, but he won that wall battle, kept everything alive, and eventually it gets around to McDavid, and he throws it around again.

“[McDavid] is probably not giving himself enough credit.”

According to Cooper’s view, the goal reflected persistence, detail, and trust, traits Canada has leaned on throughout its comeback run to the final.
