Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may have a challenger on their hands when it comes to comparing followings. The mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, has been a force on social media in the New York area, and he is now breaking onto the national stage. Mamdani’s route to national fame might go through Swift, as the mayor will be running the city where Swift is heavily rumored to get married at Madison Square Garden.
Mamdani was asked point-blank in a Saturday post on X about what he knew regarding Swift potentially getting married at the home of the New York Knicks. Between two sandwiched jokes, the mayor appeared to admit that he knew something, but quickly ran out of the interview.
“What I am here to say is that whoever is getting married in New York City, it’s hard to beat the city clerk’s office, but many will try, and soon there will be more (inaudible),” he said. “Do you hear that? They’re calling me out.”
Mamdani walked away at that point in what appeared to be a light-hearted way of abruptly ending the interview, leaving the interviewer somewhat flabbergasted and laughing about the sudden exit.
Zohran Mamdani Pins Post at Rumored Location of Taylor Swift Wedding
Taylor Swift’s heavily rumored Fourth of July weekend wedding venue will be the biggest event held at Madison Square Garden since the NBA Finals. Zohran Mamdani, who went viral over his various celebrations and comments about the championship hoisted by the Knicks, pinned a June 5 picture of himself on X walking out of the 34th Street subway stop, just roughly two blocks from Madison Square Garden.
The stop would be one of the top spots wedding attendants would use to see the Taylor Swift wedding if it takes place at Madison Square Garden, provided police do not shut down the stop for security purposes, as many travel disruptions took place during and in the wake of the Knicks’ championship series.
Per the BBC in a Thursday report, a New York mayor’s office spokesperson said that a permit was filed in early June to close roads around Madison Square Garden from 2 to 4 July.
