The Seattle Seahawks are eyeing their second Super Bowl win in the history of the league as they face the New England Patriots tonight in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
With an overall record of 16-3 throughout this campaign, the Seattle-based franchise saw the emergence of running back Zach Charbonnet, who was one of their leading touchdown scorers this season. He also put in 184 carries for 730 yards plus 20 receptions for 144 yards, significantly helping Seattle reach where they are now in the competition.
However, during his side’s 41-6 divisional round win over the San Francisco 49ers last month, Charbonnet suffered a season-ending knee injury that ended his dream run this season. The injury was later confirmed to be an ACL tear, with the star running back needing surgery too.
Zach Charbonnet’s journey with the Seahawks started in 2023 after he was drafted as the 52nd pick by Seattle after representing UCLA in college football.
The Seahawks also offered him a healthy 4-year, $6,876,079 contract, which also included a signing bonus of $2,000,784. Currently, his base salary is set at a little over $1.6 million, a massive increase from his $500,000 base back in 2023.
The 25-year-old running back is set to stay with Seattle up until 2027, and it won’t come as a surprise if the franchise continues to maintain their association with Charbonnet in the near future.
Kenneth Walker III Set To Replace Zach Charbonnet In Super Bowl LX
With Zach Charbonnet out of Super Bowl LX, Kenneth Walker III is slated to start for the Seahawks in the running back spot. While his output this season hasn’t been as much as his predecessor’s, the Seattle-based side has found a more than able replacement in him.
Kenneth has also managed to compile a total of 221 carries for 1,027 yards and 5 rushing TDs, alongside 31 receptions for 282 yards. In the last three seasons, Kenneth is also yet to lose a fumble after being peppered with 631 rush attempts.
