Who Are Drake Maye’s Brothers? Inside the Athletic Family Behind the Patriots QB

With Super Bowl Sunday only being one day away, the Maye family is showing their full support for QB Drake Maye. The New England Patriots star had a breakout season this year, and he was so good that he narrowly lost the MVP award to Matthew Stafford by just one vote. Many in his family, who are mostly based in North Carolina, may make the trip to Santa Clara on Sunday, including his brothers.

Drake Maye actually has three brothers, and they all share a deep bond with one another. Of the four brothers, Luke is the oldest, followed by Cole and Beau, which makes Drake the youngest. All of them played various sports, though only Drake was able to turn pro. Still, all of them were there for his NFL draft.

Who Are Drake Maye’s Brothers and What Sports Do They Play?

    Luke Maye

Drake Maye’s oldest brother played basketball for North Carolina, a school much more known for basketball than football. After all, they produced Michael Jordan. Luke Maye played basketball at the school from 2015 to 2019 and was even part of the 2017 national championship squad. He is remembered for his Elite 8 heroics when he nailed the game-winning jump shot with 0.3 seconds remaining.

According to Drake, it was Luke who people wanted to take a photo with back then, as at that time, he was the more famous brother. With the Patriots at the Super Bowl, times have changed.

    Cole Maye

Cole is also a national champion player, but he did not play basketball or football; he played baseball, and he did not go to North Carolina. Instead, the second-oldest Maye sibling went to Florida and won an NCAA baseball title with the Gators.

    Beau Maye

Much like big brother Luke, Beau also played in one of basketball’s blue-blooded programs over at North Carolina. He was a walk-on and played just one season with the Tar Heels, though, and he did not enjoy as much championship success as his older brothers. Should the New England Patriots win on Sunday, he will also be the only Maye brother without a big national-level title.
