Ty Simpson Walks Away From $6M Transfer Offer With Emotional 4-Word Message as Alabama Star Officially Enters 2026 NFL Draft

Ty Simpson is going to the NFL. The Alabama quarterback reportedly turned down a chance to join the Miami Hurricanes for a final season of college football. He was apparently offered an enticing $6 million NIL package. The quarterback seems to want to bank on his status as a potential first-round pick this year, rather than gamble on a potential ‘cherry on top’ season in college football.

Simpson declared for the NFL Draft last week, but college programs kept throwing money his way to make him stay in college for a final season. However, this Tuesday, he submitted paperwork to officially enter the 2026 NFL Draft.

If any more confirmation was needed, Simpson posted a farewell picture on his Instagram.

“Been a great ride,” Simpson wrote with a picture of his locker.

Ty Simpson On His Time At Alabama And Farewell Message

Last week, Ty Simpson posted a video on his Instagram feed, announcing his decision to leave for the NFL. The video included photos of him playing football as a kid, then in high school, and all the way up until college in Tuscaloosa.

The video included a message for the fans, showing his gratefulness for his time with the Crimson Tide. He wrote:

“You’re either Alabama, or you’re not. I’ll cherish all of it as I take the next step for preparing for the NFL draft.”

He also admitted that while the journey wasn’t what he imagined initially, he grew through it, adding:

“It wasn’t all perfect, and it didn’t have to be, but every moment had meaning, and I gave Alabama my all. And I got so much more in return.”

He also praised legendary head coach Nick Saban, who brought him to Alabama and was his first head coach.

“Coach Saban was right—it was all worth it. He told me straight up it wasn’t going to be easy, but he told me if I trusted the process, it would be a ride worth taking… I’d do it a thousand times over,” Simpson concluded.

Ty Simpson was Alabama’s starting signal-caller for one season. He led them to an appearance in the SEC championship, where they lost to Georgia, and a College Football Playoff victory over Oklahoma. They eventually fell in the quarterfinal round to No. 1 Indiana. This year, he was named a second-team All-SEC selection.
