Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his fiancée, Taylor Swift, have yet to confirm the rumors that they are going to marry in the first week of July at Madison Square Garden. Despite no confirmations, a rumor is running wild that over the July 4 weekend, wedding festivities will take place in NYC.
To answer the queries of many fans, USA Today reporter Bryan West was asked if the wedding speculations related to MSG were true.
“I have to admit I was a bit skeptical when I first heard about this being reported a couple weeks ago, but the more I think about it and also think about the fact that Taylor does like control, especially when it comes to security, outside photography, flyovers, drones, paparazzi shots, it does seem like it could be a likely scenario,” West said on The Arena on CNN.
West highlighted why Swift might have made a “good choice” by selecting MSG for her wedding destination, giving way to security and privacy concerns.
“I just think when it comes to a venue and multiple checkpoints, I mean, there have been cases in litigation against stalkers, that this would be a venue that you could control,” West continued. “You could have several credential sites, and it would be easy for guests to get in. There’s even an underground ramp that they could appear unnoticed. So I think when it comes to security, Madison Square Garden is a good choice.
“There’s also no flyover, so when it comes to drones or helicopters or also long-lens paparazzi shots, you wouldn’t have that with Madison Square Garden. She could help kind of control the photos and the videos that are being taken.”
Another Report Fuels Speculation about MSG Being the Potential Venue For Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding
Earlier this week, The New York Times reported that “a permit was filed with New York City to close the streets around Madison Square Garden from July 2 to midday July 4 for an event on July 3.”
Moreover, the report said that “several members” of the Chiefs have booked rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square during this period.
Event company Winick Productions has filed for permission to set a tent outside the arena in early July to host 500 to 999 guests.
MSG offers many perks for a high-profile couple who want to avoid the paparazzi at all costs. The venue is designed to host nearly 20,000 people and has extensive hospitality spaces.
Swift has performed there before, making the potential wedding venue a familiar and known spot for her.
