Appearing on Speak Easy alongside Emmanuel Acho and LeSean McCoy, T.J. Ward was asked a simple question after ESPN executives, coaches, and scouts ranked Jalen Hurts as the league’s 17th-best quarterback and Bo Nix at 18th.
When asked about – Who would you rather have going into this upcoming season?
Instead of siding with Hurts, Ward had no hesitation in picking his former franchise’s rising star.
“I’m going to go with my dog, Bo. You already know who I’m going with,” Ward said.
“Bo all last year before he got hurt, and if he didn’t get hurt, we’d be Super Bowl champs right now. He came through.”
According to Ward, Nix didn’t truly flourish until head coach Sean Payton gave him a chance during the second half of the season.
“He didn’t even get going until the second half of the season when Sean Payton took the leash off him. Once he took the leash off him, Bo went crazy, man. The leash, man, he had a leash on him. They had him boxed in.”
Colin Cowherd Backs Bo Nix Over Lamar Jackson
Ward isn’t the only analyst making a bold case for Nix. FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd made headlines on July 14 by claiming he would take Nix over two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson in a fourth-quarter comeback situation.
“I no longer trust Lamar Jackson in a big spot,” Cowherd said. “I’d take Bo Nix today in a fourth-quarter, come-from-behind situation over Lamar Jackson. Why? The analytics and data tell you he’s better.”
“I watched Bo Nix go toe-to-toe with Josh Allen in a division-round playoff game with a broken ankle. A kid against the best player in the league. So, I’m probably selling my stock a year late.”
While Lamar Jackson’s still holds MVP awards and All-Pro selections, Cowherd argued that recent trends favor Nix in late-game situations.
With expectations rising in Denver and Sean Payton continuing to build around him, Nix will have another opportunity in 2026 to prove the growing hype is justified in the upcoming season.
